Hi, I’m Liz, a serial blogger, trained journalist, self-taught geek and digital media academic, and the face behind Creatista Design. And geek mom to a teen son! I am so glad you’ve come across me and hope my blog tips for entrepreneurs like you will give you food not just for thought, but action too. First, let me introduce myself.
I’m on a mission to get women into tech and feel confident running their solopreneur businesses. I’ve taught myself WordPress tech and, believe me, it’s really empowering. If you’ve kids, do encourage them to code – there’s nothing like knowing what’s under the bonnet!
How did I get into WordPress? A long route from loving code of another sort – grammar! I’ve a first degree in European Languages, a post-grad in magazine journalism and added a Masters in Digital Media, by way of working in advertising and press offices. It’s never too late to start on a new path in life. Your own online business dreams can become reality. Mine did!
I am British, but am based in Malta, an achipelago at the heart of the Mediterranean. I moved here 20 years ago with my Maltese husband in what were almost pre-Internet days. Things and I have come a long way since then. I never thought I’d work for clients overseas from an island in the Med!
Now, I apply my varied life and work experiences to getting you online, building your entrepreneurial ebusinesses hassle free, so you can fulfill your potential too.
Solopreneurship, particularly for women multi-taskers, takes grit and the grind of hours of hard work. But, with the right tools in place to back your business and brand, it can be one of the most rewarding ways to spend your days. It can mean the freedom to work where you wish, at your own pace and create income on your own terms.
To achieve your dreams, you’ll need to know how to master a website and not let it be your taskmaster. Even with all the social media platforms out there, you’ll need a space online to call home and one that you own outright and can tailor to your personal brand style. A website, especially if built on open-source WordPress (see below) – can be just that.
I’m on a mission to give you the online presence your creativity deserves. From a high-performance WordPress website to providing you with essential training to unleash your unique talents, skills and passions to grow your own brand successfully. I am with you all the way helping you behind the scenes so you can focus on creating and growing a dream business that gives you sustainable income and nurtures your soul.

How I work
I develop WordPress sites on the Genesis framework; a combination which gives you both excellence of design and also totally sound coding. I liken your website to a car:
- WordPress is the engine powering your site;
- Genesis is the body work – the structure; and your
- Theme is the glitzy paintwork – the effective, beautiful site you see.
Genesis is a really a ‘super-theme’ that sits on top of WordPress. Your theme is in fact a ‘child theme’ that creates your site or blog’s specific design and layout, as well as a good portion of its functionality.
Why do I use Genesis? Key industry figures like Problogger’s Darren Rowse rate the Genesis framework for WordPress as one of the soundest foundations on which to build a site or blog. It combines built-in SEO, rock-solid security and mobile-responsive design.
Clear, readable code: When it comes to updates and under the bonnet features, the Genesis framework has super clean code using the latest html 5 standard. This transparency means that you can adapt your site easily in the future whether you hire Creatista or other WordPress developers worldwide.
Future proofing: Genesis also helps to future-proof your site in other ways. By splitting the form from function, it ensures that its software releases updating Genesis, leave your nice-looking theme paintwork with any custom design you’ve done in tact!
